Banking Password Breach

ABC News reports that approximately 29,000 credentials from the Big Four banks (ANZ, NAB, Commonwealth & Westpac) have been compromised in a malware attack known as “infostealer” (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04-29/australian-bank-customers-passwords-stolen-by-malware-hackers/105196976). Reports suggest the Malware predominantly targets Windows devices.

While the number of affected customers appears to be relatively small, Digital GP recommends taking the following precautions:

  1. Change your banking passwords ASAP.
  2. Check your bank statements for any unusual transactions and report any suspicious activity to your bank.
  3. Run a virus scan on your devices.
  4. Run a malware scan your devices. One suggestion for malware scan software is Malwarebytes (https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download)
